Tinnitus
"Senile Dementia", Periferal Vascular Disease
(eg. Intermittent Claudication and other Circulation Problems).
We can all expect to suffer, to some degree, from the effects of
mental ageing, and epidemiological evidence shows the risk of diagnosable
dementia to double with every five years. The cause is interruption
in the blood supply to the brain either by a gradual decline or
in a series of micro-occlusions or occasionally in a singular stroke
incident; and the symptoms include: forgetfulness and concentration
loss, dizziness, tinnitus, lethargy often with restlessness and
insomnia, anxiety often with intermittent depression, headaches
and general disorientation.
Current
treatment of these problems is limited, non-existent or radical
with strong side effects. There are however, Naturopathic, Herbal
and Osteopathic treatments that have been clinically proven to give
immense relief for these conditions with negligible or no side effects.
In
particular a herb that is the only survivor from prehistoric vegetation
200 million years ago, is in the oldest known Chinese herbal, and
has shown positive results in an array of clinical trials for cerebral
insufficiency (dementia) including tinnitus intermittent claudication,
ischaemic heart disease, asthma, and retinal disease. A 1992 Lancet
review of all the research into this plants effectiveness found
many trials to be conclusive and concluded recommending its use
for cerebral insufficiency and P.O.A.D. (intermittent claudication),
and that there appeared to be no side effects, and the authors Kleijen
and Knipschild concluded that they would use it!
This
herb's effectiveness against tinnitus can be combined with Osteopathic
techniques that free the circulation to the inner ears and balance
centres to provide the only treatment for this condition (in either
the conventional or naturopathic field). Relief is gained in the
majority of cases, occasionally a cure is illicited.
Osteopathy
has shown clinical evidence in freeing arterial supply to the head,
known to become progressively restricted by disc thinning and other
(often painless) structural ageing that occurs in the neck of all
of us. Osteopathy can be combined with herbal compounds and other
naturopathic approaches to treat cerebral insufficiency.
Similarly,
Osteopathic manual techniques can be used with herbal compounds
for intermittent claudication, usually improving this condition
enough to create walking a few hundred yards possible in most cases.
