Asthma

Asthma is a growing problem probably because of pollution in our environment, our diet, and 'stress levels'. It is causing distress and serious illness for increasing numbers of the population.

There is no cure but steroids have made the acute breathing shortage attacks much less dangerous.

In the long term there is no answer for asthma however, but Osteopathy offers excellent relief from the symptoms for all asthma sufferers including the most severe cases.

An asthmatic cannot relax to breathe out properly, hence in the acute attacks and permanently, all their breathing mechanism is held towards inhalation, this tends to create fluid collection in the lungs and thus the irritation and inflammation of the lung membranes.

Osteopathy eases all the breathing mechanisms (ribs, corto-chondral cartilages, intercostal muscles, diaphragm, dorsal vertebrae etc.) down into inhalation, thus physically allowing a full breath to be taken, preventing fluid collection in the lungs and ensuring all aspects of the breathing mechanics are working freely. Apart from this relief the condition is not allowed to worsen under Osteopathic treatment, preventing the condition becoming more serious as time passes.

In this way all the symptoms of asthma can be massively reduced and in many cases, even the most serious, sufferers are able to forget they have asthma whilst under treatment as the relief is so great.
